Rooney's Dragon Tattoo going over Streep's Iron Lady that year would be as upsetting as if Joaquin's Master went over Day-Lewis' Lincoln. i would be thrilled but, you know, presidential/ministerial performances are gigantic for actors.

but that's more of a takedown on the purpose and success rate of the movie, in my opinion. i think there's enough elements and obvious inspirations behind nightcrawler that maaay change my feelings on its goodness after a rewatch. what's not to love about jake's performance and the sleek cinematography? they're well done if somewhat familiar.
