The burning question on everyone's mind is will the Darkness be able to compete after Convergence. After my hard fought victory over the Weapon Avalon Blake she let that rage of her's take control. She, in essence, “Hulked Out.” She got angry and did what everyone who is impotent does when they get angry. She lashed out. Sad really. I told her this would happen. But, fear not, or fear more?, because The Hungering Darkness is formless, shapeless. I shall be at World War, Night One.
Avalon attempted to end my career because she embarrassed daddy. She was going to come to the ring and win one for her good old billionaire pops. Sorry to have burst that bubble, little Avalon. Sorry I showed not only you but the world why your daddy doesn't love you. I proved my point that you had far more to lose than I, and that it would be your downfall.
But, she is the past. Now I move on to bigger and better things. It seems that all the winners from Convergence are lucky. We are all entered into some tournament. Quarter finals take place at World War One. The first announced match was none other than myself, Vashta Nerada, the Hungering Darkness, taking on Keegan Hightower.
When I heard about this tournament, like everyone else, I wondered what the prize would be. The most obvious, and most widely assumed, is that the winner shall be crowned the first ever champion. Well, if that is the case then I will damn sure win. How amazing would it be to start my first professional career with a Title reign? Not just any title, but the top title of a fledgling company? As I embark upon this journey, along side PANGAEA, I rise straight to the top.
But I will not be totally cocky. Their are many talented individuals still left. Cutter Driftwood was impressive in the debut Main Event. None were surprised that people like Salazar, Mandell, or even Olethros won and were unknowingly advanced. Then there are the surprise entrants. Gonzales and O'Hara both coming out on top and both surprisingly so.
Then there is my opponent, Keegan Hightower. He came out with his male superiority and arrogance. He backed up what he said, and props to him for doing so. Yet he did it against a not that impressive specimen. But a win is a win is a win, right? I know you have been around longer than I have. Doesn't matter to me though. Avalon had size and power on me and I won. Your experience will amount to the same.
That feeling you have, Keegan, that tingle that started at the base of your skull. That is fear. Don't worry, it's natural. Talk your big game. Make claims that you are gonna do what it takes. Avalon did and look at her. She said she had no fear of the dark. She lied. You might think you have no fear of my darkness. It's a lie also. I know, I know. You think you got your little fan, your 'Keeganites' that will help you. But let's face facts. When it comes down to it, when it really matters, you will be alone. Alone in the dark. Why do you think early man huddled around his mystical fire at night? Why did he run to the safety of numbers in his cave?
Because of the Dark.
You, just like your entire bloodline, are afraid of that darkness. The unknown. You make jokes about my mask. Like Batman it is a symbol. What am I hiding? What lies behind the leather? You don't know. No one in this company knows. Not even my trainers or manager knows. I am the Darkness, Keegan. I am the Unknown. How do you fight that? You can prepare by watching my one match I have had in Pangaea. My first match outside of my training. You won't find much. Where as I can find everything you have done in your career. I have far more to dissect, more to learn from.
Not that I shall need much. As I have said, that primal fear is starting it creep along your spine. That tingle of foreboding. That voice in the back of your head, warning you that something isn't right. It's all screaming at you to run. Flight or Fight is what it is referred to. That primal urge for self preservation. Will you listen to it Keegan? Will you take flight and not show up? Or will you try and fight back? Will you be that lone beacon trying to repel the darkness?
I think you just might. You have that mentality. You see yourself as some pretty boy. Some shining light for others to follow. Can your light, that you already feel I have over shadowed, out shine my darkness? Your light is already faltering. You can't stand that I have a better start to my career. You can't handle the fans love me more. I'm an affront to all of your beliefs aren't I?
Your weakness shall be one of the many reasons for your short comings. I have already beaten you. Your mind is in retreat and mine? Well, mine is as firm as ever. My path, though covered in darkness, is clear to me. Yours, Keegan. Yours that was so full of hope and promise has been cast is shadow. The shadow that is the harbinger to the coming Darkness.
I hunger Keegan. The Weapon was but an appetizer. My hunger shall only be sated with victory, with triumph. You shall be the next meal. You will be yet another appetizer. My main course shall come when I get my hands around the prize. My fill shall come when I win this tournament. Everything and everyone after shall be my desert. But don't worry, there shall be room for all. I might even go back for seconds.
For I always Hunger!
