OOC: I was given permission to use Jack Savage in this RP.
Brooklyn's body pounds the mat hard after a big slam from her trainer, 16 year veteran Jack Savage. Instead of complain, Brooklyn pushes herself up, running her hand along her back. Jack wastes no time and grabs his young rookie by the arm and whips her into the corner of the ring, knocking the air out of the young trainee. As Brooklyn gasps for air, Jack approaches her. Sizing her up, he delivers a chop to the chest of Brooklyn.
"Is that all you've got Brook? How badly do you want this? How bad do you want to beat that punk Keegan Hightower?"
Another chop to the chest prompts the young diva to shout her response.
"I want to beat him!"
"Then you have to be aggressive. In your last match, you showed me that aggression that I've been wanting to see from you, but then you let your emotions get the best of you. You can never wrestle off emotions. If there's one thing that I teach you that you remember, let that be it. An emotional wrestler makes mistakes. This match has to be different. I know you want to win, but do it the right way. Don't go in there and open yourself up for mistakes."
Jack goes to deliver another chop to Brooklyn, who ducks under it and rolls behind his back. Brook jumps and hits a dropkick to Jack's back, causing the veteran to crash chest first into the corner.
Brooklyn stands back to her feet, smile on her face.
"You taught me to always be alert. I was ready for that one."
Jack sneers proudly as he turns to face Brooklyn. He walks up to his student and grabs her by the back of the head and brings her head into his shoulder, hugging her.
"Now you're getting it kid. I'm proud of you."
"Thanks, Jack. Without your help, I'm pretty sure I would have lost every match so far. Even having just the one win was because of what you've taught me."
"Sit down kid."
Jack and Brooklyn take a seat in the middle of the ring. Brooklyn looks at her trainer, focused.
"Like I told you before, it isn't just about winning or losing. You might have lost two of your three matches, but the match with Cutter was a main event. The first main event on the first Pangaea show ever. That is because that company see's something in you, and you didn't let them down."
Brooklyn smiles proudly as Jack continues.
"You went out there and tore the house down. Cutter may have won, but you helped put on an amazing match. You earned the fans' respect that night and have been doing so ever since. They see the hard work you have put in. I brag about your work ethic each and ever opportunity I get. Oh, and where is Cutter now? He defeated you in that main event and now he's gone. He stopped working, you never did. You have looked better in defeat than he looked in victory. You have a lot to be proud of."
"Thanks, Jack. I really think I'm ready for Keegan. I've known him for a few months. I used to mingle backstage at ACE shows when my daddy ran it, and I honestly got along with Keegan back then. Granted, I wasn't the girl I am now. At that point, I enjoyed being spoiled and handed everything, but that isn't me anymore. Wrestling has changed my outlook. I don't want to be one of those women who is handed everything. You know, one that only gets by on her appearance."
Brooklyn brushes her hair out of her face.
"This match with Keegan has gotten a bit personal too. I guess I thought we were friends, and then he goes and calls me a brat."
"You have to toughen up in that department, Brook. You will learn that there really are no friends in a business like this, at least not during working hours. To Keegan right now you are just another opponent. You and him have a date in the middle of a ring in Paris, and it won't be pretty."
"Mmm, Paris. I get to go shopping. I can't wait!"
Jack reaches over and slaps Brooklyn's leg.
"Ow!"
Brook rubs her leg gently.
I was only joking-well, half-joking. I'm pretty excited to do some shopping."
A smile crosses her face.
"But I'm more excited to step into the ring with Keegan and show him that I'm not backing down and that I, as a woman, CAN go toe to toe with him. He has this problem with thinking women are below him, I want to change his outlook on that."
"There is no wanting Brooklyn, DO it. This is your time. As long as you remember everything I taught you, you bring out that aggression, and you stay focused at all times, I truly believe you can pick up the second win of your career on the 11th."
"And that's why I love you and your family. You guys have been supporting me from day one. You've taken me in, let me live here while I train, and never gave up on me even when I lost a match or two. I couldn't ask for a better support system. There's really only one thing left to do, and that is to win on Thursday night. Now that you, Kelly and the kids are flying out with me, I have to step it up."
"You know my little girl Ashley looks at you like a big sister now. She hates Keegan Hightower."
The pair share a laugh as they stand up.
"Just for Ashley then, I'll beat him. Come on, lets get back to work. I want to push you to your limit old man."
They laugh as they tie up in the middle of the ring, continuing the training.
