The camera opens up on a close up of Brooklyn Blake's face. Sweat beads drip down her face. As the camera pans out slowly, her blonde hair is pulled into a braided ponytail, with loose hairs pulled from it sticking out after an obvious rough day of training so far. As the camera continues panning out, we see she's in a gym. Her wrist is wrapped after the attack's from Armada and Keegan Hightower at Chapter IV.
"I'm in pain, my wrist is killing me. I'm thirsty, Jack hasn't let me have anything to drink in almost an hour and I've been running laps. But that isn't where I'm going with this."
The camera pans out even further and to Brooklyn's right, we see a chair set up with a cooler on it. The cameraman walks up and gets a shot of the inside of the cooler to show 3 ice cold Dasani water bottles.
"Growing up, I was handed anything and everything I wanted. There was no need for me to lift a finger for anything, all I had to do was ask and it was mine. It was convenient, sure, but it's not as satisfying as working til the brink of exhaustion, only to overcome everything for what you really want. Look into the ring."
The camera pans towards the ring, and right in front of the ring are 3 women, all bigger than Brooklyn physically, but the focus of the camera bypasses them, zooming into the ring. Right in the middle of the ring there is a warm bottled water sitting there.
"Next to me are 3 ice cold water bottles. Being as thirsty as I am, the easy thing to do would be to just walk to the cooler, open a water bottle and drink up. Years ago, that's what I would have done, but not anymore. Inside that ring, the ring that is protected by 3 women who are clearly bigger than me, is a warm water. Since joining Pangaea, I've enjoyed the challenge of competition more than anything. Let's talk about my opponent this week, Karen Hardy.
Karen is in phenomenal shape, that much is obvious by looking at her. But looks aren't everything. Take a look at her career here so far, a dark match loss to Giovanni. A win against Lady Crimson, but let's pause."
Brook makes a motion for 'timeout' with her hands to the camera with a smile on her face.
"There are two ways of looking at that match. The way Karen probably looks at it is, it was a dominant victory. Lady Crimson put up no offense, and Karen picked up the win. I see it a little differently. Lady Crimson no longer works for Pangaea, so in the long run, how much did that win really do for Karen's career? How satisfying was it?
Then, just at Chapter IV, Karen defeated Jordan Taylor. Again, another victory, but again she wasn't pushed."
Brooklyn eyes the 3 women between her and the water bottle in the ring intensely, still speaking to the camera.
"Both of Karen's victories were met with zero resistance. She might rank higher than me, she might have more wins than I do, but she hasn't worked nearly as hard as I have. Are the wins as satisfying when the fans don't have enough time to get to know you because of how fast you win? Is winning as meaningful knowing one of your opponents is no longer heard from while the other is possibly on his way out of the company as well?
Say what you want about me and my record, but from day one, I've been a Pangaea original, one who has earned everything I have right now. Cutter defeated me, but I pushed him to his limit in the main event of the very first show. Then I defeated Danny and Heather, two who are no longer here either, but I beat both of them. I might have lost to Armada at the following show, but again I didn't go down without a fight, and that fight I had against Armada, was the same fight I brought with me to push Keegan to a draw at Chapter IV. I've wrestled established names and proved that I can hang with them.
What have you proven so far Karen? Not to be conceited, but you haven't shown us much. Anyone on the roster right now could have beaten Lady Crimson. Jordan Taylor with all due respect just wasn't prepared. I am. And unlike your prior matches, I want the best out of you Karen. I don't like the easy way out."
Without warning, Brooklyn charges towards the ring but the 3 women step in front of her. One of them grabs Brooklyn but Brooklyn fires a feisty forearm to her jaw, knocking her back. Each of the other 2 grab an arm and begin pulling Brooklyn, but Brook counters by going down to the ground in a split and breaking the hold. She then reaches a foot in each direction and trips the other 2 women to the ground. As all 3 women scramble up, so does Brooklyn and before they can grab her, she slides into the ring, picking up the warm water bottle. A toothy smile spreads across her youthful face as stares at the water for a moment.
"Size, it doesn't matter and I just proved it. All 3 of those women are larger than me, but I wanted the water. When you want something bad enough, you can overcome anything. I want a win at Chapter V more than I wanted this water, Karen. I respect you, but I want this for my fans, for me."
She unscrews the cap and takes a large drink from the water bottle before sitting it down.
"It tastes that much better when you have to work for it. Ask yourself Karen, how hard are you willing to work? I'm willing to give everything."
